Job Summary

Based at the Atlas melting facility in Sheffield, the Production Welder role will be part of a developing and forward-thinking operations team that is experiencing a period of growth. The main outputs of the role are to provide support to the Raw Materials, Primary and Secondary melting teams lending occasional support to the maintenance department. As part of a world class Aerospace super alloy producer the successful candidate will be part of a team that operates with people and product safety at the forefront of everything they do. The role is in place to provide diverse support to the business with opportunities to grow within an expanding organisation.


Primary Duties and Responsibilities

• Strict adherence to company health, safety, and quality procedures and proactively contribute to the SMP’s improvement processes.

• Stub welding for VAR and ESR remelting process.

• Maintain throughput of raw materials for VIM (“Lugging” process).

• Proficiency in Gas, MMA, MIG & TIG welding techniques.

• Assist maintenance to include various types of weld preparations, welding and weld finishing operations to internal customer drawings, specifications, or other forms of instruction.

• High standards of housekeeping in all areas of work and the ability to work within the companies 6s initiatives.

• Interpretation of mechanical drawings.

• Equipment maintenance.


Skills, Experience & Qualifications

Demonstrable Experience Of:

• Knowledge of materials used.

• Knowledge of fixtures and weld set up parameters.

• Knowledge of conventional and precision measuring instruments.


Desirable Requirements:

• A relevant vocational welding qualification e.g. NVQ, HNC, HND, ONC, C&G or an appropriate apprenticeship. Employees without these qualifications but who can demonstrate relevant industrial knowledge and experience will be considered.

• 5 GCSE’s A-C. Candidates without these qualifications but who can demonstrate relevant industrial knowledge and experience will be considered.

• Working within super alloy manufacturing environment or similar for 3-5 years.

• Experience of using mobile plant (FLT/Overhead cranes).
