Responsible for the shift engineering activities and performance. Front line management of shift engineering technicians on own shift. Primary Duties and Responsibilities
• Carry out both reactive and proactive maintenance activities, working across all departments: Melt Shop, Precision Forging Department, Conditioning Department, Precision Machining Facility, and the Commercial Testing Services (Laboratory).This includes work on Vacuum Induction Melting Furnaces (VIM), Vacuum Arc Remelting Furnaces (VAR), Electroslag Remelting Furnaces (ESR), various gas fired furnaces, Rotary Forge (GFM SX65), Peeling machines, various precision finishing machines and a variety of other plant and equipment.
• Ensuring that scheduled planned maintenance and routine inspections are carried out effectively and on time.
• Front line management of the shift engineering technicians ensuring adequate site engineering cover and shift capability (skills).
• Making effective engineering decisions to prioritise activities, assess the safety and condition of plant and equipment, and diagnose engineering issues.
• Coach and develop shift engineering technicians.
• Understanding of electrical systems and be able to diagnose problems/plant faults constructively and accurately.
• Understanding of mechanical systems and be able to diagnose problems/plant faults constructively and accurately.
• Record daily activities and creation of work orders within a CMMS (Agility), as well as using the system to assist with any fault diagnosis.
