Aerospace

SMP is a leading producer of remelted low-alloy, stainless and maraging steels for critical jet engine and air frame applications.

SMP has core expertise in the production of critical rotating mainline engine shafts for the world’s leading jet engine OEMs. The combination of our melting, forging, heat treatment and machining capabilities make us a one stop shop for this product. SMP is also a leading supplier of reforging quality billet and machining bar for other component producers within the aerospace supply chain.

SMP supports the major oilfield service companies with its proprietary high strength stainless steel non-magnetic grades used extensively in bottom hole assemblies (BHA).

SMP’s material is preferred due to its machinability and high performance within the field. SMP has the full manufacturing capability to produce these grades through remelting, forging and machining including the production of API drill collars.

Via an established global distribution and machining network SMP also supplies Nickel-based superalloys for the use in critical drilling, well completion and well head equipment. SMP’s considerable manufacturing capability enables it to produce these alloys in a large size range and heat treatment conditions, particularly making us a world-leading producer of oil & gas 718 grades.
