Job Summary

To work in a team operating VIM & VIDP furnaces or ESR and VAR furnaces.


Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Contribute to the safe and efficient operation of furnaces through:

• Safe crane handling of electrodes and moulds or ingots and furnace crucibles.

• Maintenance of a high standard of housekeeping in line with safety and QA hazard audit
requirements.

• Adherence to QA procedures and generating/maintaining prime melt records.

• Charge preparation, charge mixing and furnace loading or Crucible and Refractory
preparation.

• Mould preparation, setting and stripping.

• Loading/discharging of large clamshell heat treatment furnaces.

• General crane and forklift truck movements.

• VAR furnace cleaning.


Skills, Experience & Qualifications

Desirable Requirements:

• 5 GCSE’s A-C. Employees without these qualifications but who can demonstrate relevant
industrial knowledge and experience will be considered.


Demonstrable Experience of:

• Development/Improvement activities.
